Who issues a reroof permit depends on the town. Minnesota cities such as Oakdale, Lake Elmo, Cottage Grove and Forest Lake issue their own, and Chisago County issues them for Harris, Lindstrom, Chisago City, Rush City and Taylors Falls. In Wisconsin the local ordinance decides whether a reroof needs a permit at all: Hudson's says replacement roofing needs none unless there are structural changes or repairs. Each town page names its permit office. On the Minnesota side, look the company up on the Department of Labor and Industry license lookup before you sign.

Do I need a permit to replace my roof?
